Repairs

I.T.E.M. Generally does not do repairs unless covered by warranty which is usually 90 days of use. However any item coming back for repairs will have to be completely cleaned to our satisfaction or there will be a cleaning fee applied and most of the time the cleaning charge is much more than the repair cost.
Glue patching works very well, and if done correctly it will outlast the rest of the fabric. Surfaces have to be clean and prep-ed with toluene. (only Toluene or it's substitute Toluol will work) this step is the most important and will ensure the vinyl and glue bond. Skipping this step is the leading cause of glue patches failing.
When the item to be repaired is still very new, slightly used and clean, there is a chance it can be RF Dielectric welded and sewn on machines having pieces added, replaced or reinforced.
Hot Air Welding works very well as long as the fabric is not too UV damaged. When the vinyl is still good it can be Hot Air Welded. This allows for much larger repairs and is recommended when the vinyl is too dirty for RF welding.
There are several companies that sell the Hot Air Wedge Welder, Hand Held models. If you decide to go this route, I.T.E.M. will assist you with purchase and training.
I.T.E.M. Guarantees and Warranties every ITEM we fabricate and produce. We give extensive Guarantees against failures and even (most of the time) operator errors. I.T.E.M. will repair or assist the customer with repairs No Matter Who Made It.
A lot of times the covers and tarps can be cleaned enough to use a sewing machine. Combined with glue patching , using a sewing machine enables you to make extensive repairs and alterations.
Most of the time the covers and tarps are either too old or too dirty to be repaired with machines. They can be repaired, very successfully with glue patches or hot air welding. Glue patching and a combination of glue patching and sewing is the best way to repair old and dirty tarps and covers.
