Storm Drogues and Sea Anchors
Storm Drogues and Sea Anchors
I.T.E.M. manufactures Drogues and Sea Anchors for many companies. Some companies have their own designs and some customers use designs approved by USCG. All of our Drogues and Drift Anchors are made with Marine Grade hardware and fabrics. They can be designed and fabricated in many sizes and strengths to be used with all size Boats (not ships) and for all applications.
The Drogue acts like a parachute, slowing the boat's drift speed so baits or lures can be deployed more naturally or effectively. The Drogue is deployed into the face of the wind either via a quick throw or a controlled feed. The anglers then fish using the wind to help with casts as the boat drifts broadside to the wind, the retrieving flies are then fished over virgin water, reducing the risk of spooking fish

Sea Anchors
The Sea Anchor ( Parachute style) creates a very strong drag that dramatically slows, almost stops your boat relitive to the current and helps maintain control waiting out a storm.

Storm Drogues
A storm drogue is a device towed submerged from the stern to limit (but not stop) the boat’s speed, and to keep the vessel’s stern at a set angle to following seas. Conversely, a sea anchor is a device deployed from the bow to stop the boat’s movement through the water, and to keep the boat’s bow into oncoming waves. These devices are not interchangeable, nor will one device serve both functions.
